In a city as large and cosmopolitan as Ottawa, there's never a shortage of things to do at night. Clubs, pubs and bars can be found in abundance, especially at Byward Market, Elgin Street, and Hull. Many of these venues are open until 2 a.m. or later.
Absolute Comedy , in the heart of Little Italy, rotates through Canadian and American comics every week. Their Absolute Pub also offers food at reasonable prices, pool tables, shuffleboards and a TV. Also in Little Italy is an Italian bar with an Irish twist, Pub Italia , where some of the city's best Turkish espresso is made.
For a musical evening, there are several blues bars in Ottawa, such as the Glue Pot Pub on Queen Street or the Rainbow Bistro on Murray. The restaurant E18hteen on Byward Market not only serves over 50 wines, but invites local DJs for weekly appearances. They also have $5 Martini Madness evenings every Saturday.
A good sports bar to visit is the Chateau Lafayette at 42 York Street, which is the oldest tavern in Ottawa (built in 1849). The establishment offers traditional pub fare and brew alongside not-so-traditional Karaoke Mondays, Putt Putt Tuesdays, and guitar performances on Sunday evenings.

For a slightly raunchier night out, there is the NuDen , an exotic dancer club with continuous shows, large screen TV, pool tables and a full menu.
